      Account Executive Interview

      Jan 31, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Trade Desk (New York, NY) in Dec 2015

      Interview

The interview process at TTD makes it abundantly clear from the get go why their culture is so widely praised internally and respected industry wide. A brief overview of what you can expect if you are applying for a sales role (though I believe the basic structure would apply to all hiring) Round 1 30 minute (painless) phone call with one of the internal recruiters. They just want to get a sense of your experience and level of interest. Round 2: In person interview with 4 employees from various departments. Bring water. Person 1: RVP of sales/my would be boss. Person 2: Trader- team mentality is huge at TTD, so it gave me a chance to understand a part of the business that I might not touch directly, but would need to work closely with that individual. Person 3: Account Manager- again, I would be working closely with an AM, so this gave me a chance to understand what that relationship looks like, and what they are looking for in a candidate to maintain their culture and awesome work environment Person 4: Senior AE- A chance to talk to someone seasoned in the seller role, ask candid questions, and learn about best practices to achieve success at TTD. I came away from round 1 feeling incredibly energized by everyone I had met. Each person had a unique reason for why they loved working there, and their positivity was infectious. Round 3 Met with more senior members at TTD including VP of Sales and GM of client services, followed by drinks with 3 team members. Completely solidified my desire to join the company. As far as the content of the interviews, it was clear they wanted to get to know me in an authentic way. It was not just about listing my resume and qualifications, instead there was more of a focus on how I interact with others, my understanding and perspective of the industry, my values, and my personality was a whole. It is important to know exactly why you want to come on board, and how you will help maintain the integrity of the precious culture they have created here. It might sound like a lot, but the process began on December 10th, and even with the holidays/new year, I received an offer on January 11th. Yes, the in person interviews are lengthy, but consider it a good sign if you spend a lot of time with the team. They have busy lives too, but they are dedicated to maintaining the culture the company is known for, and are willing to put in the time to talk to new candidates.

Overall was a long interview process that they seemed like wanted the position filled quickly. Everyone was nice for the most part. Utilize the talent manager because they will help prep you.

Recruiter was great and helped answer all of my questions during the initial interview call. Unfortunately, TTD's in-office work requirement a few days per week not a good fit for me.
