Extremely poorly communicated by the internal recruiter.
Quite onerous, after my third interview and presentation stage, I thought everything was going well. The next interview was with a director from the technical side of the business.
He was extremely cocky and rude. Described how the company was in a mess before he joined (3 months prior), and it almost went bust. Said this period is make or break, but luckily - since he joined there was now a strategy behind the products development.
After this interview, I heard nothing despite reaching out to the internal recruiter. He eventually responded after 6 weeks and said the hiring manager had been taken ill. This was 3 months ago and the role is still being actively recruited for on LinkedIn. Most of the employees I met seemed very nice and respectable, however it seems there are several bad apples and by the director’s own admission - the company is in a mess.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Trade Ledger in Jan 2024
Interview
hiring manager who described themselves as a "hard-ass." From the start, the interaction was challenging. The manager's demeanor was quite harsh, and they seemed to take pride in being tough on candidates. This attitude made the conversation uncomfortable and added unnecessary stress.
When I asked for clarification on what "doing well in the role" would look like, the manager struggled to provide a clear answer. They couldn't articulate the specific expectations or metrics for success, which left me with an unclear understanding of the role's requirements and performance standards.
Overall, the experience was quite poor. The manager's inability to clearly define success in the role and their unnecessarily harsh demeanor made it difficult to feel positive about the opportunity.
Review of tech test and culture interview. Fast paced but good. Answered lots of my questions, CTO was confident and assured. HR was also kind and gave me lots of information
