I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Vamstar in May 2024
Interview
Awful. Do not recommend.
I was given a technical assessment in my first round, without even having the opportunity to talk to the company (interviews are two way streets).
The assessment was incredibly open ended in a bad way - not like an exploratory analysis, but rather there was no clear explanation of what they wanted from the assessment.
In addition, the assessment itself was poorly written, with spelling/grammar mistake that could make it easy to interpret the question in different ways.
The feedback I received afterwards didn't even relate to the assessment question. For example, I was asked to validate data to feed into a Machine Learning pipeline. Basic data sanitisation I thought. The feedback I received said that I didn't provide any insights?
If I wasn't confident in my own abilities, with a decade of experience, I would have imposter syndrome after this. However, because of my experience, I am confident in calling this out as the worst technical assessment I have ever done, with the most useless feedback I have ever received.

Question 1
I was asked to "cleanse and provide validated "winner_price" data" to feed into an ML pipeline.
To do this, I was provided with a CSV file with about 10 rows of data. There was no instruction or data dictionary provided, however, it seemed that each "contract" was bid on by multiple "participants" and the winner was chosen (as per the instructions) as the participant with the lowest bid offer.
That means each "participants" field contained a list... important to notice though it wasn't explained at all in the instructions where the winner price was chosen from - that was left for the reader to decipher.
2 rounds of technical discussion including live coding and followed by HR dicussion . there are 2 30 min coding test and 45 min of managerial discussion which involves previous project discussions and scenario understanding. Process is quiet smooth and transparent.
