Sent a resume and was contacted by a Sales Manager. Meet the Manager for lunch and just talked. Not formal at all. Asked about last sales job. Asked if i had a dependable car. 100% of auto expense is your own. Then had to meet General Manager with the Sales Manager. At this point, all he wanted to talk about was who you know in the pulp paper business. If your know the right people, your in.

Interview
Half hearted Interview with recruiter. Two weeks later I met with Sales Manager, Felt he was too busy to interview. Discussed pay and the focuss on new business sales. Thought it was odd no car package but you want us to go use our cars to make sales calls on a 75k base. 3 weeks later met with VP via Teams call. They stated they would get back to me with an offer but never heard back. Admittedly i wasnt truly interested unless they offered a higher salary plus car package. The failure was poor communication, and a poor compensation package unless your a fresh out of school candidate.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Veritiv (Austin, TX) in Aug 2021

Very quick and super friendly. They are big in culture and company goals. Had a total of 3 interviews. Interviewed with HR & manager and potential peers. I really enjoyed the interview process.

Three steps. Sales Manager, General Manager, Regional Manager. Face to face interview with Sales Manager and General Manager and then phone interview with Regional Manager. General questions regarding my work history, education, approach to selling and customer care.
