The interview consisted of a phone screening, plant tour, and an hour conversation with the CEO in the Warren, RI location. The interview consisted mostly of him talking, there was very little asked of me. I mostly listened to him talk about the culture of the company and other employees. When we did finally get to discussing my qualifications I felt it went extremely well. The question of compensation came up and I threw it back. He asked what my salary expectations were and I asked what the budget was for this position. He stated that it would be around 60k per year. I responded, stating that was far below my current compensation- almost 40k. He asked if I would consider a lower amount with a bonus structure attached. I said I would consider that but I feel that he was already turned off and the interview ended almost immediately after discussing salary.
I followed up with a few emails and a letter that were all ignored. WaterRower seemed like a good company to work for, clean facility, busy work environment. It did seem during the tour that they could benefit from some focused streamlining as the work looked to be very scattered- a lot of movement going on.
