    Engineering Vacation Work (WesCEF) Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Perth, Western Australia (Australia)
    No Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Wesfarmers (Perth, Western Australia (Australia)).

    Interview

    Initial Assessment Center:
Group activity was first, which analysed how you worked in a group, cultural fit etc. Was not particularly long or out of the ordinary.
Then there were a series of 12-14 "speed interviews", which each lasted 5 minutes with a small break between each. These interviews were all happening at once in the same room so it was loud.
Interviewers were a diverse group of WesCEF employees, such as Senior HR, superintendents etc.
Each interviewer had one or two questions, which they asked every candidate, then ranked them on a set of criteria. The questions are very aligned to their visions and values, and also ask about people skills and technical knowledge:
"What does safety mean to you?"
    "When have you resolved conflict?"
"What is the most technical project you have ever undertaken and what was the outcome?"

    Follow-up Interview:
Follow up call, where you are allocated to a business and attend an interview on-site with your future supervisor, etc. Interview is to make sure their initial impression of you is correct and that you are appropriate for the role. Technical knowledge of the specific operation is a must. Also required to do psychometric testing and safety awareness test.

Successful applicants will then be invited to the relevant medicals, reference checks and then finally offer
