West Suffolk Council interview questions

I took time out of my work to attend the interview, that in itself I have no problem with. However, when I get into the interview, they never asked me any questions, never really wrote anything down, just smiled and spoke about the council. I knew right then and there that I hadn’t got the job because they didn’t even have the decency to conduct a proper interview, so how could I get the job? They probably had it pegged for someone internal to the council or someone known tbh, because I already didn’t have that job walking into the interview. My question though: why waste my time, why bother conducting “interviews” if you already KNOW who you’re going to hire? Just save everybody the hassle and hire them instead of getting people’s hopes up and not conducting proper interviews.
