      Engineering Leadership Interview

      Jan 7, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Xylem in Sep 2018

      Interview

I met Xylem at my school's engineering career fair. They called me a few hours later to set up an interview the next day. The first interview was on campus and very brief; they mostly asked about my resume and why I wanted to work for Xylem. The second interview was a technical phone interview with a Xylem engineer located in Florida. He didn't really ask technical questions, he mostly asked me about my technical experience in my internships. He also asked about the technical programs I mentioned on my resume. I passed the second interview and was invited to the final round. It was a 2-day process. Xylem took the candidates out for dinner the night before (casual setting), and the following day was 6, 45 minute interviews (took about 8 hours of the day with a lunch break). I think it's worth mentioning that a senior director used the R-word at the company dinner. The next day, my first 2 interviews were technical. They asked about manufacturing and how I would approach a certain problem using a design process. The last 4 interviews were behavioral and with the "core team" of interviewers. The core team spoke to each and every applicant. During the day, we had lunch with ELDP members or graduates of the program and were able to ask them questions. I was told that I would hear back in about a week. I waited, and heard nothing. Not a big deal - I assumed they were just backed up with more interviews. Three weeks passed, and I decided to email the recruiter. I had another offer on the table, so I was pressed for time. I heard nothing back, I even called them and left a message. Two more weeks passed (so now we're about a month past my final interview), and I finally get a response saying that they are still interviewing and hoping to make a decision the next week. I waited another week, and when I hadn't heard anything, I called them back. No answer, no response. It has now been about 3 months since my final interview, and I still have not gotten a response to my follow-up email. I'm very confused and surprised that I got ghosted by a company after quite literally spending days interviewing - especially because the 8-hour interview caused me to miss class and work.
