I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Zalando (Cairo, Cairo Governorate)
Interview
A friend told me before I apply for Zalando he said : "don't work for a shoe company ! ", Really the worst hiring experience you may face, it took ~ 5+ months to finish the hiring process with Zalando Engineers (who were very decent and kind TBH ) and finally you got a rejection on a different position ! Yes you read it right - you apply for X and get a rejection on Y, and no explanation or any convencing reasons for the rejection or even a feedback ! . if you asked a question or requested something from the hiring team who are no doubt like people using drugs or alcohol you may get lost in the mail threads and may be weeks after weeks pass with no answers ! .... I am mentionning this cause I am not the only person who faced this with Berlin office recruitment team [ I can say names ] , Finally,
- please don't waste people time and yours
- be clear and responsive and keep the candidates updates with the changes and updates
- Zalando handling a lot of applicants with small team [HIRE MORE PEOPLE ] to maintain the quality
- the rejection feedback is not a luxury thing, it is very important !
- the chat-bot is 100 times responsive or even useful than some recruitment teams in Zalando
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Zalando
Interview
I've applied to Zalando twice. Each one took around 3 months to me.
I start with the first one. I passed all of the interviews including Coding Challenge, HR Interviews and Technical round interviews. Finally I talked to HR Manager for the roles and everything seemed to be fine and cool! It wasn't an interview it was kind of like introducing their team and my duties in the future. Interviewer told me we're looking forward to seeing you hear and that's it!
I started preparing my documents, translating them etc. But after a month I didn't even receive a feedback from Zalando. I sent several emails to them to follow up but nobody answered me, Finally I called to the Coordinator and she said we will get back to you soon. And then after two another weeks somebody sent me a rejection email because of my seniority level! How I can not be a good fit tech-wise when I passed your technical interviews??
The second one as usual stated with a Codility challenge and then interviews were being started. I told them about my last experience and told them after all I still passionate to join Zalando and the HR apologised about it and said we shouldn't behave like that etc. The process started and I again passed all of the interview rounds and at the end the interview with HR Manager for role was positive.
But again after quite a while they sent me a rejection email (In the email the job title was different than the job title that I had applied. I applied for Front End Developer not Senior Front End Developer as I had that bad experience with them). She said but as you were so good at the interviews we other HR Managers want to have a single interview with you.
I asked them to send me a feedback and let me know their definition of seniority but nobody sent me anything and also I didn't have any other interview with others HR either!!
Again, how do you estimate someone's seniority when he has passed all of your technical interviews!
It's not a good behavior with someone who is interested in the company and also passed the interviews!!
