I recently had the opportunity to interview for a student job at Zalando, which was a three-stage process.
The first stage involved a 15-minute phone call with HR. During this conversation, they asked about my background, my earliest availability, and my salary expectations. They also gave me an overview of the job and explained the next steps in the interview process.
The second stage was a 45-minute technical interview with a senior team member. After introducing themselves, they asked me to introduce myself and then proceeded to ask me specialized questions, including which software tools I am proficient in. The interview was very friendly and felt more like a conversation.
A couple of days later, I was invited to the final stage, which was a brief interview with the Director. This lasted less than half an hour and focused mainly on providing more information about the role and the team. They then asked me two behavioral questions: one about dealing with stakeholders and another about how I would approach learning a new tool if required.
Less than a week later, I received an email informing me that I was not selected. However, they scheduled a brief 10-minute call for feedback. During this friendly conversation, they provided me with constructive feedback and also asked for my thoughts on the interview process.
