Interview
The interview process itself was actually rather chill as both the team and the role seemed like a good fit. I was promised a job back in May and then had my offer rescinded at the last minute due to a combination of visa issues and a hiring freeze imposed by door2door's parent company. I was quite disappointed as I'd tried to be upfront about my situation early on so there should have been no surprises on their side. Not entirely sure if their actions were legal (as contracts had already been signed) but I didn't want to challenge the decision at the time. I did eventually start working for another German company who were willing to wait. The visa application process there took three weeks (and not the 2+ months that door2door's relocation agency cited). However because my time was wasted with door2door, I went without full time work for two and a half months longer than expected. Should door2door/SWVL make it out of the current recession, anyone applying from outside of the EU in the future may want to bear this in mind before doing so. To their credit, the People team did say that they would recommend me to companies within their network. This isn't something that I can verify as no-one actually got in touch with me during that period but it's what they said they'd do, so...

Interview
I applied through LinkedIn. I got an email from the recruiter after 5 days for the 1st video call. After almost 20 days of the first call, I got another email from recruiter and I was given a home task which was based on some API building in Python, Java, Kotlin or Ruby.

Write API endpoints of vehicle registration, vehicle deregistration and location update whenever a new location is detected. You should be able to visualise the map. Use Google Maps, Mapbox or leaflet libraries for idea. Use Docker to containerize the solution. Use Heroku or AWS to host the project.
