Stage 1
HR interview was a standard telephone call that was scheduled for 30 minutes long. 15 minutes of HR describing eBay and then the role. 5 minutes of candidate running through their experience and 10 minutes of HR asking questions. HR individual was nice and friendly.
Stage 2
Hiring Manager interview telephone video call. Under 1 hour long. Hiring Manager was formal. Someone on Glassdoor mentioned in their interview process experience that eBay use the outdated STAR (behavioral) interview approach and I can confirm that this was my experience as well. Hiring Manager outlined at the beginning the interview would be a question and answer format. Hiring Manager had a predefined checklist of questions. It very much was Hiring Manager poses question followed by candidate answering. Interview was not a conversation or discussion between Hiring Manager and candidate which is a pity as it felt ever so scripted on the Hiring Managers side. Type of questions to expect include give me an example of and tell me a time when scenarios.
Stage 3 / 4
Would have been with other team members if Stage 2 had been passed.
Standard generic rejection email received after the process concluded with a statement that successful candidates have been shortlisted however the job spec then went up again on all job portals within 48 hours...
