I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at nearmap
Interview
First round with the Director - nice intro
Second round for a homework test - never a fan of doing homework, but I did give a go here
Third round: meeting with other two engineers, focus in architectural level question - I started to have doubts for the team's culture after the third round.
I think the team is doing sth interesting technical. However, the skill they are after and the title definitely has gaps... In the interview of Machine Learning Engineer role, no ML related questions were even asked. The role is more like pure data engineer. I think the recruiter / hiring team should be make this more clear.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at nearmap (Melbourne) in Aug 2025
Interview
Initial phone screen call, first interview with team leader- passing that a tech test/coding challenge to be completed and presented to a team of 3 in the next round of interview. Passing that, there would be a culture fit interview. Be prepared to be asked about system design and scaling.
