Founded in 2014 by Scott and Missy Tannen, Boll & Branch was built on a simple but radical idea, that luxury should begin at the source. Instead of accepting industry shortcuts, our founders reimagined the entire textile supply chain, prioritizing the quality of the thread itself rather than inflated thread counts or marketing claims. From day one, we invested exclusively in 100% organic raw materials and built direct relationships with farmers and factory partners around the world.
In doing so, Boll & Branch became the first bedding company ever to be Fair Trade Certified. That milestone was not a campaign. It was a reflection of how we believe business should be done.
Today, five commitments remain at the heart of everything we create:

Boll & Branch has grown to more than 150 employees and is headquartered in Summit, New Jersey, with a second office in New York City and a dedicated photo studio in New Providence, New Jersey. In 2019, we raised $100 million from L Catterton, a leading consumer-focused private equity firm, to help accelerate our next chapter of growth.
While our foundation is direct-to-consumer e-commerce, we are steadily expanding our retail and wholesale presence. We currently operate retail stores across the country and partner with Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom in approximately 100 locations nationwide. Across every channel, our focus remains the same, delivering uncompromising quality, thoughtful design, and a customer experience that reflects the integrity behind our products.
As we grow, we remain founder-led, product-obsessed, and mission-driven. We believe exceptional businesses are built by people who care deeply, think long term, and hold themselves to a higher standard.
