Description The Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim was founded on the April 8, 1975 as a State Foundation pf Public Law with funds coming from the Federal Government, the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Volkswagen Foundation.
Its four medical departments, with 261 beds and 81 outpatient places, ensure the psychiatric care of the citizens of Mannheim. Mentally ill people of all ages can trust in the most advanced treatments based on the latest international knowledge and research.
As a globally-recognized center of modern psychiatry, the ZI, in co-operation with national and international institutions, achieves outstanding accomplishments in science - in a central location. With more than 1000 employees at five sites in Mannheim’s inner city, the Zl has today one of Mannheim’s largest employers.
