Big Oil in China means state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which is that country's largest integrated oil and gas company. CNPC has exploration and production projects in China and 30 other countries and is an oilfield services provider in 50 countries. The company also operates some older refineries and an extensive oil and gas pipeline network in China (including 70% of the country's crude oil pipelines). It has a network of 18,000 gas stations across China. In 2009 CNPC completed more than 1,900 exploration wells and reported proved reserves of more than 1 billion metric tons of oil equivalent.
