Shopsmith makes its mark. Shopsmith makes and markets multipurpose woodworking tools -- most notably the Shopsmith Mark V. The Mark V performs the functions of a disk sander, horizontal boring machine, lathe, table saw, and vertical drill press and, with attachments, band saw, belt sander, jointer, planer, scroll saw, and strip sander. Accessories include a lathe duplicator for reproducing original turnings and a dust collector for dust-free woodworking. The company also offers single-use tools and accessories. Shopsmith directly markets through demonstrations and by telephone, mail order, and online. Founded in 1972, Shopsmith is run by Chairman John Folkerth and his son Robert, the firm's CEO.
