RoomStore caters to those craving a furniture makeover without the sticker shock. The retailer offers moderately priced living room, bedroom, dining, and other furniture, as well as decorative accessories, through more than 60 RoomStore retail and outlet locations in eight mostly southern states, including Texas, Florida, and the Carolinas. The company also owns 65% of the Mattress Discounters Group, which consists of about 80 stores in Alabama, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. RoomStore was started in 1992 by several members of the Levitz family in Dallas, Texas. In 2011 RoomStore filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it attempts to reorganize under a new CEO.
