Description The Life Care Centers of America story began in 1970 when Garden Terrace Convalescent Center, now Life Care Center of Cleveland, was built in Cleveland, Tennessee. With a highly trained staff of caring associates and a beautiful building resembling a home environment more than a traditional nursing home, Life Care embarked on its more than 40 years of experience in care.

Today, Life Care Centers of America is more than just nursing homes. While skilled nursing and long-term care are central to Life Care's services, Life Care also offers premier inpatient and outpatient short-term rehabilitation, post-acute short-term rehabilitation and post-operative recovery. Alzheimer's and dementia care, independent and assisted living communities are available at many of Life Care's locations.

Life Care's talented associates continue to look for innovative ways to enhance resident and patient care. The same passion for quality care, that started in 1970, still fuels Life Care today.

As a privately owned company, Life Care distinguishes itself with more than 48 years of experience, stability, and success.

Our modern, well-maintained buildings offer strong multidisciplinary teams, specialty programs, and opportunities for continuing education.

In 1970, Forrest L. Preston, chairman and CEO, opened the first facility, and today, Life Care operates more than 210 skilled nursing facilities in 28 states and employs more than 38,000 associates. Rooted in a Judeo-Christian ethic, two foundational principles were at play, then and now:

1. Patients and residents are our highest priority and deserve superior quality care and customer service.

2. Our associates are our most valuable resource in serving those entrusted to us.

The goal of each facility is to be a full partner in the continuum of health-care services in the community in which it operates. Our facilities specialize in skilled nursing, post-acute care, and inpatient and outpatient therapy in well-equipped, onsite rehabilitation gyms. Many of our centers provide Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

We're excited to welcome Aubrey Preston to our leadership team as Chairman and CEO! Aubrey is no stranger to Life Care. His father, Forrest Preston, founded the company in 1976, and since that time, it has been an integral part of his family. For many years, Aubrey worked alongside his father at Life Care, handling acquisitions and developments which helped the company grow to be one of the leading providers of senior care in America. After his early years at Life Care, Aubrey followed in his father's footsteps and went on to establish himself as a healthcare entrepreneur and philanthropist in his own right. Going forward, Aubrey will lead the company on his father's behalf, working closely with our board of directors and leadership team to oversee all matters pertaining to Life Care and our affiliate Century Park. Under Aubrey's leadership, our mission remains unchanged: We will continue to focus on supporting our staff in the field, our associates in the corporate office, and our precious residents and their families.
