Description Rain Bird is the global leader in the irrigation industry, manufacturing water conservation irrigation systems for agriculture, golf courses, sports fields, residential and commercial landscapes.

Operating in over 130 countries, the company offers over 4,000 products, including computer-operated control systems, WiFi timers, valves, sprinkler heads, rotors, and pumps.
Rain Bird has completed jobs all over the world including Pebble Beach Golf Course, Rome's Coliseum, Rio de Janiero's Soccer Stadiums and Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

Developing the first patented horizontal-action impact-drive sprinkler head product in 1935 -- launched a new era in water-efficient irrigation for food crops. Clement and Mary LaFetra started the business in 1933 and their son, Anthony LaFetra joined the business in 1964, first serving as a plant manager and later taking on the roles of vice president of sales and marketing, and then executive vice president. In 1978, he succeeded his mother, Rain Bird's co-founder, Mary E. LaFetra, as president and CEO. Tony passed away on January 30, 2021.

During Tony’s tenure, the small irrigation company in Glendora, California was built into the international market leader it is today – a company working hard to promote The Intelligent Use of Water™ around the globe. Tony’s tenure was highlighted by innovations that revolutionized the irrigation industry, from the world's first computerized central control system for irrigation management in the 1970s to the launch of subsurface drip irrigation to save water and reduce the need for herbicides.

Art Ludwick became Rain Bird’s President and CEO on February 1, 2021. Art Ludwick is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Rain Bird Corporation.

Art has worked at Rain Bird for 42 years. His previous role was Senior Vice President and CFO. Art has two Civil Engineering degrees from Stanford University.
