The railroad's 112 miles of main-line track extend from Ohio through West Virginia to Pennsylvania. The property also includes some 20 miles of branch lines and real estate used in the operation of the railroad. Norfolk Southern maintains and manages the properties. A real estate investment trust (REIT), Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad receives $915,000 rent annually, an amount that is fixed for the duration of the lease, which expires in 2063.
