    Pros

Great working environment with others that are on the same or similar level as you. Everyone gets along and is willing to help each other out.

    Cons

The leadership of this company is very bad. Much of the leadership team has not been in a leadership position prior and was only promoted due to their length of service with the company. They say that it is a "family" environment but are more than willing to part with an employee with no regard for their well being. Overall employees don't seem to last longer than around 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Bring in new leadership that has experience running a company and understands what it takes to succeed and grow.

    Pros

APi really tries to take care of its employees inside and outside of work. Their benefits are middle of the pack, but their ESOP program is great.

    Cons

Career advancement happens very fast for some, and not so fast for others. I would say overall they really are a great company to work for.

    Pros

Golf event, Christmas party although even that is a watered down version of what it once was.

    Cons

Raises/ bonuses don't even cover inflation.

    Advice to Management

I understand that this is a business but you need to treat your employees right, which starts with paying them well and having decent bonuses. No one is fooled by the self help seminars and "leadership" courses.

    Pros

    Profit Sharing, benefits,
Good if you're a male from the military/West Point .
Beautiful new headquarters and training center in New Brighton.
Veteran friendly (but they haven't implemented that well)
Seems financially stable...but hdqtrs seems revolving door of people

    Cons

Less opportunity if you're female and minority. Pay is poor and work life balance in most companies is way out of whack. Expectations are that your phone is on all the time. Work after hours for lots of Supts (and others) isn't paid, just expected. Super reactive companies across the board, not very visionary. Very bad reporting systems, no HR at APi and in most companies so Managers do their own recruiting and whatever other needs they must.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at people needs. If you say people are your biggest asset act like it. Think about diversity needs, don't just inject Vets and forget about civilians. What about women and minorities? We are always too little, too late. We have some great strengths, but some very big weaknesses someone needs to address. Big buildings do not cover up the problems. Putting Vets in jobs they are not skilled in does fix anything at the end of the day; they should work toward opportunities and go through training programs like others, maximing their strengths, building on weaknesses. Women can do more than be Admins. And minorities should be more than a check mark on a piece of paper!

    Pros

Very supportive management, beautiful building in which to work, C-level executives were accessible if you worked at company HQ

    Cons

Very low pay compared to average salaries for comparable positions in the Twin Cities. Nature of the company (essentially a holding company of 40+ different subsidiaries) can make it very hard to implement broad changes.

    Advice to Management

Better communication between divisions/departments could prevent a lot of duplicate work and ensure that everyone is on the same page.

    Pros

Good place to work with lots of opportunity for advancement. There is a supportive culture with an emphasis on employee development.

    Cons

The pay is a bit low when you begin. The management can be inaccessible at times, but overall this is a good company to work for.

    Advice to Management

Partner with your subordinates and ensure you are responsive to their needs. Nothing is more important than the leaders you develop--consider your role to develop the organization to function without you.

I worked at APi Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company is very profitable. They know how to make money. They are very conservative. If you have the skills they want they will support your growth. Excellent ESOP profitability. They are very military friendly. Unfortunately they do not support you like they should. They need to pay closer attention to mentoring the military folks not just waiting to see if they sink or swim.

    Cons

Outside of the ESOP, they only contribute to the medical. You pay for all of the dental premium. You need to be "A" team to work at headquarters or bye-bye. Too many nit-pickey rules! Push in the chairs, re-stack the coasters in the conference rooms, dumb stuff like that. Currently no work from home policy.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up, pay a little more for the rest of the benefits. Develop a work from home policy. Get a company car for employees to use during the day.
