I worked at ASG Security full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay, benefits, and vacation time are at the industry standard. There can be some fun and interesting projects, but you'll have to reengineer them yourself when arriving.

    Cons

The Salesmen are the engineers, so it tends to be more about monthly profit then efficiency. Installations suffer because of poorly engineered projects.

    Advice to Management

    Hold Sales accountable

    Cons

I have been working at ASG Security (More than a year)

    Pros

company vehicle, company gas card, some tools provided

    Cons

nightmare of customer appointments, horrible logistics, hours can be obscene, and then dead, company has been taken over by Protection 1, raises are now tied to monthly bonuses which are nearly impossible to achieve. Don't bother applying to be a tech unless you already have experience and can command a $20-30/hourly rate. Otherwise you'll be burned out and stressed in no time.

Horrible sales and management the worst. A lot of back stabbing in the office as well as out in the field.

I worked at ASG Security full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to learn security industry if you've never worked in it. So, at least there is some new technical knowledge to acquire.

    Cons

Management from the CEO down to the branch Mgr don't really value people. People, as in customers and employees, are just tools to make money with. Also, their security alarms and cameras are not reliable. Not a company to build a lasting career with.

    Advice to Management

Offer quality training to employees with growth opportunities so that employees will trust management. The network and equipment needs to be improved.

I have been working at ASG Security full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Casual work environment, good salary and advancement

    Cons

Security industry is prone to acquisitions from competitors. I was laid off after ASG was acquired by Protection 1 Security. The benefits were good, but expensive. There is high turnover in sales.

    Advice to Management

The security industry is a great place to grow your career, but this can also mean that there are many new managers in key roles. Newer managers need to be more proactive about vetting strong employees instead of rushing to fill open roles. Doing so would prevent the constant hunt for new employees.
