Pros

The people were nice, and generally fun to work with.

Cons

Pay is low and not competitive. Minimal benefits are offered. Raises are non-existent. Leadership is largely inept, unhelpful, and just pawns all the responsibility off to lower-level staff. Workload is high. There is no regard for your personal life. You're expected to work around the clock including holidays and weekends with no additional incentive. And you can forget about taking any kind of vacation. Jobs here are very insecure. Their revenues are like a roller coaster. They are constantly losing contracts due to their poor services and lack of qualified leadership. Even for jobs they complete, they often can't get the clients to pay. At-Risk tries to present this image of themselves as a large global network. In reality they're a small company of only about 15 full-time employees. They are almost entirely reliant on other security companies which they use as subcontractors. They flat-out lie to clients regarding their personnel and capabilities. They state how they have several offices around the world. In reality, they only have two offices (Chantilly and Florida). All of the other "offices" are just individuals operating out of their homes. Their intelligence center, or GSOC is just a small room with only two people. Long story short, they are basically just a "broker" of security services. So if you're looking to get quality experience and do legit security work, you won't find it with At-Risk. You'll spend most of your time doing administrative tasks such as typing up invoices, writing briefings, and responding to a never-ending queue of emails.

Pros

Depending on what contracts they have going on, there could be a wide variety of experience and exposure one can obtain.

Cons

The company definitely was much different than it appeared. Turnover is high, and a lot of employees leave within their first year. From outward appearances, one would might believe this company is a large, global leader in the international security field. In reality, they are a very small company with a very unstable client base. They are also heavily reliant on subcontractors, which creates it's own set of problems. In a lot of cases, they mislead clients about their capabilities, which often results in them eventually losing the contract. They are now even trying to market themselves as experts in the Kidnap and Ransom field, a subject matter which none of their staff have any experience with. Expectations for employees are generally unrealistic, and the company's demands offer little or no balance between work and personal life. If you have a family, this is definitely not a company where you’d want to work. Beyond that, I often found members of Senior Management were difficult to work with, and rarely helpful. Like a lot of small businesses in this industry, they have their peaks and valleys. It can be very unstable, so jobs aren't very secure over the long run.

Pros

AT-RISK International is a specialized security firm that grants ample opportunity to individuals who seize it. The variety of work makes it exciting to come in every day and the fact that it's still a smaller company means you can have an outsized impact on your team and beyond. The leadership is ethical, the mission is admirable, and your colleagues are friendly and respectful. If you’re looking to challenge yourself and expand your skillset in the service of very high-profile clients, there’s no better place to be.

Cons

Growth comes in spurts, workloads are high and not always distributed evenly, and compensation can be improved.
