I have been working at Access Intelligence full-time

      Pros

Great benefits and flexibility and the office closes early on Fridays

      Cons

You are constantly asked to do more with less. Sr. Managers really don't know what the day to day work involves, so on paper they think they can get by with less people. Every department has their own set of rules, some are allowed to telework and some are not - lots of favoritism.

      Advice to Management

Be more open to employees on the company plans. Get to know what people actually do on a day to day basis - don't be so sure your assumptions are correct.

I have been working at Access Intelligence full-time

      Pros

Great benefits, competitive salary, pretty good work-life balance.

      Cons

Circle of executives helicopter in and make decisions with little regard to on-the-ground situation and employee input. Definitely some Peter Principle going on there; lots of politics, favoritism, and a touch of cronyism. Centralized marketing, design/web design, and other infrastructure is clumsy and slow. Execs are obsessed with bottom lines and trying to make all divisions work on the same model, regardless of context.

        Well-established publications covering important topics.

        Cons

Too much favoritism and resting on laurels. Ethics, quality and internal communication need improvement.

        Cons

The volume of work, emails and overlapping deadlines are daunting and you have to get used to the feeling of always being behind.

        Advice to Management

Fewer meetings, be more selective about new ideas.

        Pros

nice colleagues, leaving early on fridays

        Cons

inhumane workloads, terrible pay, extremely low morale; second-rate all the way.

        Advice to Management

A flat hierarchy looks great on paper--in practice, it amounts to little more than giving VP-level "leaders" a license to micromanage every single person.

        Pros

        - Some managers provide greater flexibility in your schedules and remote work. Though there is no company-wide policy. - You have opportunity to carve your own growth path or create your own role. - Some benefits are a great asset: Metro benefits, 401K matching, HSA contributions. - You can very easily take ownership of a lot of projects and feel in control, which can be great for personal and professional development....

        Cons

        - The "do more with less" attitude is taken to an extreme degree at this company. - Some executives are unaware of what work their employees actually do and don't take the time to understand how various daily efforts are actually accomplished on a granular level. - Executives don't do anything about overburdened workloads when brought to their attention. - Salaries are not competitive in this market. - Overall business...

        Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and assess their workloads. Don't be cheap; hire people. Be more transparent about the business and its decisions. Encourage and invite differing opinions and viewpoints. Hold more company-wide outings and opportunities to invite family members to functions.

        Pros

My particular department was fantastic, great team, relaxed atmosphere. Most lower levels employees across all departments were hard working and nice.

        Cons

Often heard complaints from others about unrealistic expectations from VPs, those demands led to lots of turnover in some positions.
