I worked at Adnet Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The managers are genuinely concerned about the employees and create a pleasant work atmosphere. And the company is small enough that you don't feel like just another part in a great machine.

    Cons

The biggest con had to do with the nature of the work and not necessarily with the company. Because it was to support an ongoing project, the work was well-defined with few opportunities for advancement. However, within our small team, it was possible to explore and learn all the various roles. For example, a backend developer could learn front-end development if they had an interest.

I have been working at Adnet Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A majority of ADNET exists to fill a handful of government contracts supplying scientists to the goverment. Because of the nature of the contracts and how specialized the work is, the job security is generally very good. Should ADNET lose the contracts to another firm, a majority of their workforce would likely be picked up by the new company. ADNET did this when they took over many of their current contracts. Also because of the highly specialized work, the culture is very academic and relaxed-- driven, but relaxed.

Most senior management has a good open door policy and is generally very receptive to personal concerns or problems with the work. This isn't to say they are always with you, but they make themselves available more than similar companies of slightly larger size.

    Cons

It's a government contractor with all the pitfalls of that type of work. Cost-cutting is always a problem. New ideas are almost always shot down. Managers are promoted mostly based on seniority or the recommendations of clients, but rarely outright skill. A lot of the work force is satisfied with "good enough." Everything is political... You get the idea.

I worked at Adnet Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The job gave me something to do. I helped capture two concurrent 8a set aside contracts. I got a chance to establish and maintain 5 computer networks some UNIX based and some Windows based.

    Cons

Customer (DOL) was too demanding for the caliber of workers I was allowed to hire. I had over 90 employees, but few were well qualified. Many were legacy from the previous 8a contract that were rehired for ours. All hires were subject to dollar ceilings that were unrealistically low. In many (most) cases, I was forced to hire employees that were foreigners where his DOL job was the first job the they in he US.

    Advice to Management

Care should be taken when you undertake any wage and hour contract. You cannot perform with marginal or substandard personnel.

    Pros

ADNET is an extremely supportive employer and management is always friendly to deal with. Management is extremely receptive to new ideas and ADNET's contracting customers are great to work with.

    Cons

Working for ADNET's customers, one rarely sees ADNET's management. One could go 3-6 months at a time without seeing one's own management.

Benefits are great. Top notch health insurance. The VP talks to you and is great. It is a smaller company and they treat you as much like family as possible.

They are a small company in the Government Contracting world. They are just big enough to not be considered a small business, but smaller than you would expect for a prime contractor.

    Advice to Management

I love Adnet and I have meet the top of the company. You guys are great. Keep pushing for company growth.
