    Pros

    They treat their employees decently.
Management shares information about the company financial state.
Product legitimately helps people -- feels good to be a part of the company.
    Free drinks and snacks.
Employees are encouraged to live healthy, time allowed for exercise.
Genuinely nice people to work with.
Previous issues with company vision have been solved by 12/15 reorganization.

    Cons

The company eliminated all new product engineering (laid off entire engineering group in December 2015).
No one in senior management has a deep product development background.
Decision making is sometimes based on anecdotes (n=1) rather than vision or data.

    Advice to Management

Sell the hell out of existing products (which remain unique and in demand).
Get to a position of financial strength.
Figure out how to innovate in a slow-growth business.

I have been working at AlterG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A health and wellness focused company with a very broadly intelligent team. This is the first company I've worked for where 90% of the people care about the customers, product and work that they do every day.

    Cons

Same cons with any small company trying to grow: not enough hours in the day or resources. A better office location would be nice too.

    Advice to Management

Continue the transparency with the team. Ensure that the culture is maintained regardless of how much we grow.

    Pros

Unbelievable technology that makes impacting, life-changing results to patients who've suffered from a variety of injuries or conditions. Great to be able to name drop such celebrities/athletes like LeBron, Kobe, and Tom Brady as people who have benefited from AlterG technology. Definitely a 'wow' factor when talking to therapists.

Unbelievable marketing team. Never met a company who was more dedicated to brand awareness and solid marketing campaigns. They'll try anything once and admit when something doesn't work. They are the best department in the company without question.

    Cons

Revolving door of employees in 2015. 16+ folks have either been let go or left since beginning of the year and not one person in upper management has taken a look internally to address the negative culture shift since the beginning of the year. There's always an excuse and it's always somebody else's fault. Upper management is completely disconnected from the field staff and never takes any recommendations under consideration like they used to. There is never any information provided from upper management on the financial state of the company no matter how many times the sales reps or other employees have requested it. The job is no longer fun. Management tries to intensely micromanage the sales staff, squabble over expenses while others in upper management have no such accountability and are free to spend as they see fit. There's no clinical support and what staff is available is stretched thin. Quotas are unrealistic and impossible to make good money but management asks you to 'own your number' despite attempts to make quotas and revenue targets more achievable. If you're not part of the 'frat boy club,' you'll find yourself out of work fast.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent! Like your kids, when you withhold pertinent information despite asking several different ways, people see right through it. Good or bad, the financial well-being of the company should always be disclosed to the staff at the beginning/end of each quarter to actually know what's happening behind the scenes.

Stop hiring sales reps with no med device background. Not only are they unprepared for how challenging this sale actually is, they're not open to coaching and critique. They're just cocky little a-holes that everyone else hates.

PAY BETTER. You drive your sales staff into the ground with insane travel requests, fighting over pennies on an expense report, and intense micromanagement. If you're going to advertise these sales roles as mid-senior level, you better start paying like it instead of entry-level wages.

Develop a new product. Treadmills only go so far in the Private Practice market. Hopefully you can increase the portfolio offerings to make AlterG cool again instead of just asking the sales staff to justify a huge price increase without any improvements.

    Pros

Top notch, highly innovative product that physical therapist are genuinely excited about and interested in. Pretty cool people.

    Cons

Difficult sale due to cost so you will work three times as hard here for a fraction of the pay.

    Advice to Management

Do not hire people who have been already been successful in medical sales. While you are up front about the pay being much lower than the industry standard, any good rep will believe they can be a top performer. In the end though, the significantly longer work hours and higher stress level will not justify the pay to anyone who has already made good money in the industry and will lead to a swift burnout. It becomes depressing getting up and going to work everyday for a person who may have been making double in positions that didn't keep them up at night due to stress. Hire truly entry level sales people.

    Pros

Very casual environment - people wear work out clothes, bring their dogs to work and the company allows you to workout 2 hours a week during working hours. Most people are very friendly. There are lots of free snacks, espresso machine, etc...
The products really help people so you can really feel good about what you are making.
It is a small start up so there is a lot of work but everyone is very motivated.

    Cons

A few people are very difficult to work with
Some areas of the bldg are older and many conference room chairs are broken, etc...
The insurance benefits are not very good - you end up paying a lot out of pocket
