I worked at Ascent Solar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great co worker's. Flexible with your schedule.

    Cons

Poor pay we got zero raises in 3 years but where expected to somehow compensate for insurance increases every year. In a merger with a Chinese company and who knows what will happen once facility in China is open. Sent more money each quarter then they made living off the Chinese merger money.

    Advice to Management

Compensate employees for what they are worth. I made alot less an hour than the new hires that i would train.

I worked at Ascent Solar as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Hourly pay is the highest in Denver International Airport for a sales associate kiosk position.

    Cons

Job is at Denver International Airport, Must go through TSA pre-check security every morning, only able to take 15 minute breaks not 30 minutes, not allowed to sit down while at the kiosk, not many people stop by unless they really need something in the moment, not a lot of interest in the product from people passing buy.

    Advice to Management

The hourly pay is good, but your commission pay out needs restructured because the ASP isn't being calculated by invoice subtotal but rather by line items sold which makes your average lower than it should be. Nobody like a job where they just stand there for 8 hours and people don't really come by to see what's being sold. Newer product more often would help I think.

I have been working at Ascent Solar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I set my own schedule and my direct report doesn't micro manage me. Pretty great pay. All my peers are great people and fun to work with.

    Cons

The SVP/COO is delusional and manages by intimidation. The worst executive I've ever been associated with. He should be reported to the EEOC. He's had multiple complaints filed against him and nothing has come from it. Maybe because he's best friends with HR and goes to lunch with them every day.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue! Get ready. I'm sure the IRS will be coming for you soon for all your shady dealings. Loose lips sink ships. A lot of employee's won't have any issue telling the Feds their true stories.

I have been working at Ascent Solar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. Good amount of responsibility. Benefits were better than average. Part of a world changing product.

    Cons

Leadership has had high turnover. Difficult to follow when every new leader has their way, never seems to gel with a real strategy.

    Advice to Management

    Little more stability please.

    Interesting products
    My coworkers rule!
Never a shortage of hours for part timers

    Cons

Shifts are 8 hours long, no matter the position.
Management needs to reconsider where some of its locations are.
Commission varies GREATLY between location. Some locations make $200/month regularly, others struggle to make $30.

    Advice to Management

    Relocates some retail locations
Promote internally to maintain employee satisfaction.
