I worked at AutoGenomics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

For the most part smart and dedicated people work there.

    Cons

Upper management is full of nepotism and sexism. Promotions and raises are based on who is favorited and not by actual contributions or merit.

    Advice to Management

Retire before you bankrupt the company!

I worked at AutoGenomics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co workers are great and the job flexibility are good.

    Cons

Company is currently losing money due to the lack of a market for their outdated product. Missed its IPO for the 3rd time this past year. Company is struggling and upper management is blind to the fact they are abusing their staff by a lower than average salary, no raises in over 5 years, and lack of movement within the company except for out the door.

    Advice to Management

Retire. Pay employees what they are worth, and provide yearly raises and yearly reviews to improve morale. Change the product and update it for a competitive edge against other products out there.

I have been working at AutoGenomics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really good people, promising science and technology, addresses a significant need in todays healthcare system, potential to be a game changer in their field

    Cons

No leadership, very aged management, huge amounts of debt, very low morale of workforce, very poorly compensated employees, not a modern office, very much like a good old boys club.

    Advice to Management

Time to ride off into the sunset, you are too old to try and keep running this company. It needs a new CEO that can turn things around and save the company.

    Pros

Most people below senior staff level are easy to work with. The product concept is a good one and has the potential to change healthcare.

    Cons

Senior staff runs the company on outdated practices and virtually sets up its employees to fail. They are constantly yelling either among themselves or at other employees which makes for a very hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

    Retire and/or sell the company.

I worked at AutoGenomics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has a potentially game changing product in molecular diagnostic testing. There are a lot of good people there doing there best to make it work. .

    Cons

The whole place is run like a bad family business. There is rampant nepotism, which wouldn't be a problem if the people hired were competent, but that's rarely the case. Only obedient people rewarded. Differing opinions are not welcomed by upper management. Unfortunately, upper management will never admit the mistakes they have made and continue to make. Their fatal flaw is running the company as an instrument company when it should be run as a chip company. They can't wrap their heads around this fact.

    Advice to Management

    Retire.

I worked at AutoGenomics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the co-workers are very easy to get along with.

    Cons

Quite a bit of disorganization and lack of understanding by other departments, of the importance of some accounting requirements. Top management somewhat aloof from some of the internal issues. Operating system software somewhat limited in it's capabilities. There was also an issue of operating capital during my experience there.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be more in touch with all levels of staff, on a regular basis.

    Pros

They participate in an important, growing field, which is on the verge of changing the way medicine is performed both in hospitals, reference labs, and maybe even point-of-care.
Their solution is creative, but has been described as "not ready" for the clinical marketplace.
Family company if you like that sort of thing.
Automation is the ultimate goal of the molecular diagnostics market place.

    Cons

Some influential managers are literal dinosaurs in the industry; they do not see how much their field has changed along with business practices. Subsequently, their metrics are wrong.
Their solution is a creative one, however has been described as "not ready" for the clinical marketplace.

    Advice to Management

Seek reality, re-learn your marketplace. You can succeed but need to make some tough decisions about your direction. Remember your market communicates among themselves. Act accordingly.
