I worked at Avnet full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed Avnet Electronics while employed there for 10 years because I was able to move internally to various positions growing career experience as well as I could network both domestically and internationally with our many global branches.

    Cons

Although Avnet is headed in the right direction with the recent rebranding and new CEO, I still feel the company is not as contemporary as its competitors with regards to how it does business with suppliers and customers and overall employee benefits.

    Pros

Fortune 500 company with global presence. Exciting projects. If you get a good manager you will have good growth, not too much support from a process perspective for growth.

    Cons

Strategy alignment to execution poor. Very siloed and consensus driven decision making. Confidence level on some recent strategic decisions is low. Lack focus.

I have been working at Avnet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work/life balance is encouraged. Able to work a 40 hour week and shut down on evenings and weekends.

    Cons

Upper management seems to be flying blind. The company is in a perpetual state of "things will get better". I have been with the company for close to two years now and the communication has been the same - "we are working on solving the internal issues and we believe Avnet is on the right path" .. All the while those on the front lines are suffering greatly with little to no relief.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more perceptive and agile to the needs of the employees. A senior VP once said that Avnet is nothing without its people yet hiring freezes, layoffs and no raises for anyone in the company sends the exact opposite message.

Thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion and for your nearly two years with Avnet.
