I worked at Axel Springer (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Best reason to work here are the excellent people. The top management is also a class act and I loved working there!

    Cons

They reduced their presence in Hamburg. But this did not change the very beneficial atmosphere of working there. There is nothing more to add.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Axel Springer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quite good atmosphere, it is possible to have influence on strategic decisions from a position of programmer. Development and design deprtment work tightly together :)

    Cons

Not super flexible time. Seems like a steorotypic corpo.

    Advice to Management

Employes should be allowed to work in flexible time. It is quite vital to let programesr work sometimes 10h and sometimes just 5..

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - Senior managers are very competent leaders and strategists (most of them at least).
    - Opportunity to work with professionals from different backgrounds

    Cons

    - Considerably flat personal structure, making it very difficult if not impossible to rise in responsibilities in certain departments.
    - Role of certain departments is neglected despite their obvious participation in company's success.
    - Printed media are slowly moving towards demise.

    Advice to Management

    - In my opinion, the leaders of Axel Springer are doing already good job, although perhaps some procedures regarding personal growth should be verified. Otherwise Axel Springer is not going to attract the most talented employees.
