Pros
A great firm to work at with a real team environment. The Senior leadership team are very visible and approachable and really care about their staff. Lots of longevity with staff which is a testament to the good working environment.
Cons
Work is challenging but I wouldn’t really consider this a con as keeps the role really interesting as always learning new things.

Supportive, growing team where Partners take the time to invest in the junior employees

Rare PE firm - good investors and good people
Oct 28, 2019 - Anonymous Employee in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great firm with a strong collegial culture. Lean team provides opportunity for learning and impact. At an important inflection point as it is gaining structure to support scale and diversification.
Cons
Some cultural inconsistencies across offices.

Pros
Great firm with long and successful heritage. Lean team enables great deal experience. Culture is a strong point. Smart, collegial, fun group of people. Invest in interesting and relevant businesses - growth companies that are market leaders.
Cons
Work is demanding as in any PE firm. Lean team means you are always working and often on multiple deals/projects. Flip side is I'm always learning and engaged.
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Very solid culture of mentorship and apprenticeship. The team is very lean, therefore a lot of thoughts are put into operating as efficiently as possible, which is not a given in private equity. Senior professionals exhibit a strong willingness to see everyone succeed and grow within the firm. Rigorous structures put in place facilitate adaptation.
Cons
Because the team is so lean, one has to be willing and able to both step up / take on more responsibilities than the typical role dictates, and roll up sleeves to get things done. This can be confusing if not extremely organized. Finally, the recent headcount growth has left the firm a bit short on real estate.

Great place to work, unlike other private equity firms
Oct 24, 2019 - Principal in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Culturally great and not a single sharp elbow in the office Seniors are considerate of your time Open-door policy, even among the highest ranks Intellectually-rigorous environment where people will challenge your views and even junior people are encouraged to engage in debates about investment merits
Cons
Because the New York office is growing quickly, there's kind of an entrepreneurial vibe which isn't for everybody Very selective recruitment / interviewing and vetting process which felt very long and rigorous as a candidate

Great PE Firm to work for
Oct 15, 2019 - Executives in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Still a partnership unlike other large buyout funds like Blackstone, KKR or Carlyle. Partners all work there side by side with more junior colleagues. large transactions, top professional environment, super smart yet humble. Great team environment.
Cons
Work hard play hard mentality may not appeal to everyone but hard working, smart individuals flourish at BCP

Oct 15, 2019 - Executive in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- variety of deals and companies that the firm analyses and invests in - collaborative culture - inquisitive and curious culture - self-development opportunity
Cons
- deal investing is challenging and deals sometimes don't work out which can make for tough periods as you try and recover the situation
