I worked at Beaver Run Resort full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful location to work, right at the base of peak 9. The people are wonderful, and management is mostly very supportive and willing to help.

    Cons

Seasonal work makes it difficult to survive year round. Parking is a nightmare during busy times. Often large ideas don't get off the ground, management needs better organization.

    Advice to Management

Organize thoughts and plans for improvements in advance, and fund them accordingly. Take action when staff are performing well, and also when they are not. Keep up the positive attitude!

I have been working at Beaver Run Resort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best part about working at Beaver Run is the people. It feels like a family oriented environment and we are allowed to have fun while we work! My ski-in/ski-out office is pretty ideal for those powder day lunch breaks and the property is so large, that I get plenty of exercise cruising around. There are always nice guests to help, or just chat with and I have made life-long friends. They also encourage work-life balance as a core value.

    Cons

There aren't too many opportunities to excel professionally and sometimes the parking can be annoying, as in the winter months there are periods where hourly employees aren't allowed to park on property.

    Advice to Management

Consider having more all-employee meetings discussing employee relations and a higher level incentive program.

I have been working at Beaver Run Resort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, good management, strong family feeling among employees, fun loving guests and owners, we are right next to the ski lift if we decide to ski on our lunch break.

    Cons

A lot of turnover, food is expensive, sometimes parking can be tricky.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great "family" feeling and keep it fun! I would suggest bringing up more employee relations at the all-employee meetings.

I worked at Beaver Run Resort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Right at the based of Peak 9, was able to go skiing during my lunch breaks.

    Cons

Since Beaver Run is a smaller company there are less opportunities to move up within the company.

  8. "The pay is lower than other hotels around the area, but it could be a fun place to work."

    Pros

It's a good place to work if you want to do some work and travel, and your priority is to ski or snowboard. It's also a good place to work at if you are doing an internship.

    Cons

The pay compared to other hotels in the area is very low. Very few times the correct person for the job gets promoted or hired and instead people get promoted because of friendships and not necessarily their qualifications. Managers are oblivious to the huge gap in pay between themselves and lower level employees.

    Advice to Management

Try to listen to your employees, and perhaps have company wide anonymous surveys where employees can voice their opinion. And remember that a happy employee will provide better value to the company in the long run.

I worked at Beaver Run Resort part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work/ life balance. All of the staff members are very friendly and work together as a team. It is not uncommon to find all of the employees from different areas within the company hanging out together after work. Management cares about your opinions and treats you as an equal.

    Cons

In the summer months, shifts are much more scare.

I have been working at Beaver Run Resort part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love all of my co workers. Really fun people to work with. Good money because it is always very busy with the location being right at the bottom of the mountain/beaver run chair lift.

    Cons

It can be stressful with all of the tourists that have never been there before asking so many questions. The amount of people in the restaurant at once can be over-whelming.

    Advice to Management

Great management...keep up the positive vibes.
