    I worked at Bertrandt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * Good for beginners;
    * Good place for writing a your "Diploma work";
    * Salary Payment on time;

    Cons

    * Employees are 2nd class workers when placed at clients;
    * Team leaders say: 1. Client first, 2. Bertrandt then 3. the employee as last link in the chain;
    * In this company you are purely on your own;
    * Poor management and account managers;
    * Company without respect for the employee;
    * In crisis times you will have a tough time in this company;
    * Teamleaders are not able to organize team meetings;
    * You have to speak German in this company (mandatory to get somewhere )- some team leaders can not speak English. You ask yourself how could they have gotten the job? That is because there is a lot of politics in this company;
    * No social events and no team building events.

    Advice to Management

    You have to improve fast the competition is watching you.

    And we as a team had that great experience of "BeAsked" questionnaire. Lots of laughing. Where the Team lead (Gruppenleiter) failed so hard, that we had to discuss the performance of the team lead (no joke). We had to do this in our own time outside of work hours. Later we were able to write 2 hours for it on our time sheets. The "BeAsked" questionnaire shows also how other offices "Niederlassungen" perform... well, they do't perform very good - some exceptions there. We guess the CEO has a lot of home work to do, or better fire all incompetent management.

    Pros

    Flextime / Bank of hours

    Cons

    No support to employees alocated in other cities. Send additionals of the contract in german for employees that don´t speek german. Don´t explain nothing about their internal rules. Just point the finger when you make one mistake cause you didn´t know the rules.

    I have been working at Bertrandt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Fun project, with a lot of freedom in the project itself and determining my own working hours

    Cons

    No good interaction with other employees, not clear deliverables nor proper management through the project. I was more or less allowed to do whatever I wanted.

    Advice to Management

    Structure the work better, make clear what you want. Give better guidance to the employees. Organizing team building events would be a good start to become more involved into the company.

    * There is Gleitzeit - Flex time.
    * Weihnachts party in Rheinenergiestadion ( Only when it is not a crisis year).
    * Parking.

    * Promising blue sky at the beginning,
    * Good Industry network (Only when it is not a crisis year).
    * Good for starters only.
    * Fun when you belong to the incrowd.

    Cons

    * Management neglects employees.
    * Mostly Incompetent Teamleaders (Teamleiters).
    * You have to remind Teamleaders to do the yearly employee review.
    * As soon as you are not working "inhouse" the Teamleaders loose track of the team members;
    * Only one or zero team meetings a year.
    * Team gets together after yearly B-Asked survey takes place to discuss the outcome of the survey (B-Asked = Company Performance review done by employees).
    * Friss oder stirb mentality.
    * Teamleads usually do not know what the skill set is of the employee.
    * When working for an OEM, the salary of the Bertrandt engineer is 30% less than the OEM Engineer. (gleiche arbeit gleiches geld = not the rule).
    * Laissez-faire attitude of the management.
    * When there is Kurz Arbeit (Short Time) things are less comfortable at Bertrandt Köln.
    * Management systematically forget things.
    * You are on your own.
    * It is not a age 40+ environment.
    * One way communication.
    * No "open door" policy.
    * Big all hands meetings are done in German language, although many foreigners, who do not speak German, work for Bertrandt AG.
    * No real career development plan.
    * When outsourced, you have to go an a interview and sell yourself. This can lead to interesting situations.
