Pros

If you don't have a family to take care of, have lots of personal credit cards to charge expenses to, and a car you're trying to drive into the ground you may come out ahead after a couple of years...

Cons

They make you pay for client gifts every month(ironically from the owner's wife's company), you pay shipping on the products, and they can "adjust" your pay at any time. Then once you leave they sue you for every nickel they can find. Do not sign your soul away to this company!

Pros

Managers do not micro-manage,, which is nice but also you learn quickly that you don't make money unless you really work. You are given some existing accounts to take over, so you don't have to completely start from nothing. You work from home/in the field and have a lot of freedom. You will make good money once you get going (takes about 6-12months).

Cons

It takes awhile to make money. There is no base salary, you are "fronted" money that you pay back within the same month from the sales you make. If you do not sell enough that same month to pay back what you were given, then you go into debt to the company. Once you pay off this debt to the company, this is when you start getting commission checks and $$$ BUT if you do not do well RIGHT OFF THE BAT, then you are starting off a new job trying to dig yourself our of the hole of debt, at the SAME TIME you're trying to learn all the 200 products and also figuring out how to walk in on someones job and make them want to talk to you. It is a lot. Especially at the beginning. This industry is profitable enough where they can afford to not have the employees start going into debt until after a few months.

Thank you for your response. Your suggestions have been taken to heart and that is exactly how we currently pay our outside sales team.

Pros

If you can tough it out for your first year, you can potentially make decent money.

Cons

They make you pay for gifts that you give to customers. They make you pay for freight Although you make a decent draw salary, once you apply all of the expenses stated above plus gas, you actually don't make much money at all.
