    Pros

    Nice people, good environment

    Cons

Seem to be cutting employee benefits and trying to spin it as some kind of favor to employees. Also, not always clear direction/too much change feels chaotic.

    Advice to Management

Give an idea a chance to succeed or fail before abandoning it for the next one.

I worked at Biogen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and a great Cambridge location.

    Cons

Leadership doesn’t know how to develop employees or support employees who actually propose their own development plan. (This might not be true in all areas of the organization but that would be the minority.). You won’t develop and you will stagnate. This used to be a great place to work but it is really a dead end.

    Advice to Management

Development should be for the entire work force...not for the cherry-picked few. The entire organization will (IS) suffer.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Management should keep doing whatever they're doing.

I have been working at Biogen full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are better than most

    Cons

Work life balance has been removed and things like working from home held over your head like a carrot. Leadership in IT is a revolving door and they have little care for non management employees. The employee rewards system called BIG is rigged by the managers and rewards declined based on managements view of your salary and job level. Management also uses HR as a weapon to threaten their direct reports and both management and HR are ineffective at resolving issues in the work place.

    Advice to Management

Bring back skip level meetings, if your job allows it allow a regular remote work force (you claim to be a "green" company) so imagine the positive impact on the environment with less vehicles on the road, listen to the employee workforce as money / benefits will only keep good talent here for oh so long. After that you get mediocre talent at best that cant easily find another job.

    Pros

    Strong pipeline and smart colleagues

    Cons

You know the culture is toxic when the CEO put a picture of himself next to the company founders in the lobby.

    I worked at Biogen full-time

    Pros

Salary, benefits, perks, happy hour, location.

    Cons

Had a manager who had no idea of people management. She was a new manager not much experienced. No matter what I did or how long I worked she wouldn’t be happy. Perhaps it was my accent or background. She wouldn’t recognize my work. She would steal ideas and work from me and present to her manager as if they were coming straight from her. No recognition. No teamwork. The environment was toxic. Everyone had their favorites didn’t matter what you did. constant cost cutting, reorg, lay offs.

    Advice to Management

stop playing favoritism. acknowledge the work. understand team dynamics. provide training on management.
