Pros

Some variation in work and some good people to work with.

Cons

- Hostile work environment where poor behaviour is disguised as a personality you have to learn to live with. Management sets the example on this. - Not much room for progression and the wage is only just competitive with minimum wage (at least the factory work is). No pay rise is based on merit. - Complete lack of communication between departments, leading to mistakes and chaos as everything is left until the last minute. - No recorded training which enables coasting behaviour, the people there to work have to pick up the slack. - Overtime isn't optional, and is often needed to make up for mistakes. - Senior management like to throw their weight around and add no real value as they don't take constructive feedback. - Some people could be extremely difficult to work with.

Pros

Lower level staff were great to work with.

Cons

Director sits in the middle of the office like a headmaster and will alienate you if you hand your notice in. Working from home under normal conditions is seen as an insult and generally forbidden. Head of joinery only likes to talk to office staff if he thinks they have made a mistake, otherwise he’s too busy. If you’re good at your job you’re allowed to send abusive emails, make members of staff cry and then they will reward you with a promotion to managing a department that you’re not qualified or have to knowledge to do so. Can be very stressful

Pros

- the projects were really cool to work on - working away in London was fun

Cons

There is no management. I given the option to hand my notice in or get sacked. There reasoning for this was that my “work was not up to standard” when I had no light of this as no one had told me. The position that I applied for was a junior project manager. They told me that I needed no experience as they would provide me with all training. I was never told my work wasn’t good enough or that I was doing anything wrong. So I had no chance to improve. The factory people were awful and would come in and shout at people in the office, I witnessed people on the team being told to apologise and to get it over with because they are more important than you are.
