I worked at Bluegrass Cellular full-time

    Pros

    Nice, relaxed workplace environment

    Cons

Drama and individualistic work rather than team-oriented to reach quota

    Advice to Management

Apply more store team-work rather than individuals in order to reach quota as a store, not individuals

I worked at Bluegrass Cellular full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, Challenging work environment. The Company tries to show it's employees their worth, until they don't. The people you work with are from all walks of life, so forming bonds with your co-workers is not an issue. Potential to move up. The Shifts are nice. Largely, it's a laid back work environment. Middle and lower management are great! Wonderful people to work for.

    Cons

The biggest downfall of Bluegrass Cellular is simply it's disregard for humanity. Everyone has a story. Everyone has their worth. Bluegrass Cellular doesn't care. You are replaceable. After being there for about a year, Bluegrass Cellular was in no way inclined to preform their due diligence, which resulted in several terminations, with "0" regard for the state of mind and spirit that the department was left in. The individuals that were left were the ones who kissed up to the management, despite their hand in the role, or the people who were too afraid to bring the "the hand of god" (HR) down on the department. HR has an open door policy, which they execute every complaint without speaking to the other parties involved, regarding context, or doing any form of investigation. He said, She said, tactics reign supreme. This is not how a competent HR department in a company should work, ruling out of fear, as opposed to paying attention to fact and acting in the best interest of the company.

Bureaucracy is absolutely astounding. Upper Management is constantly demanding unreasonable things from lower management, with a disregard of how the department functions, let alone the basic job. One of the biggest issues that I've seen is that the upper management has no idea what they are managing, leading to a failure in management. This places unneeded pressure on Middle Management, and creates a completely unproductive work environment.

The training is a complete joke. You will spend the entirety of your training learning how to pass your weekly QA scores, and not how to actually preform your required job.

Lastly, when you have a day off, good luck enjoying it without your phone exploding with calls, begging you to come in. As with any company, when shorthanded, Bluegrass Cellular will constantly call and try to get you to come in for OT. Including holidays, which may be a plus for some people, as it was for me when I first started. However, over time, it shows that your time is not valued by the company.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like human beings. They are there for a reason, just like you are. If you want a productive work environment, look to yourselves as the first step in changing. Not everyone is disposable. Employees will give you their all if they see that you care enough to give them yours. It comes down to respect, and loyalty. To get them, you must show those qualities, yourself. As for upper management, Balance power with the people who know what they're doing. A college degree does not mean that you know how to operate a department dealing in things that you have never, yourself, done.

    Pros

Great benefits and great management. Looks great on a resume and the work is fun if you have the right attitude! Great way to kick off a sales management career.

    Cons

Long hours and could pay more. Also, not a lot of room to be promoted as it's a super basic management structure and no one ever really quits there.
