I have been working at Branch full-time for less than a year

    Pros

For a startup the infrastructure is good quality. The quality of people and work is high end and really makes one bring A game to the table. Executive & Local leadership team makes an effort to do the best they can for employees, sometimes the intent of action is important not every execution can be 100% successful.

    Cons

Every organisation has some level of politics so this is not a surprise, it is not as disturbing as it could be. Leaders could do much better on effective messaging and body language.

I have been working at Branch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Rewards high performers, impact-oriented individuals/teams w/ the caveat of only if you work well with the team, carry one's self with a high level of integrity/judgement. -Diverse and "human" founders who are active in the day to day, Feel super connected to their story and the why behind they've devoted their entire lives to this company. Founders are very active in the company, for better or worse. I believe for the better. B2B SaaS companies can feel soul-less but the founders being so involved actually makes the company very down to earth. -Founders have very high expectations and are both visionary and fast-moving. I've learned that it's truly okay to fail, but fail fast and learn from it. -Interesting and demanding leadership GTM teams, likely that you'll listen to a Branch lunch interview with someone and find out they had a very cool life before Branch as well. -I messed up once and management was critical but very fair about it. I was given a second chance. A lesson in integrity indeed for me. Have been incentivized to become a better person and employee via the culture itself. -Super forward-thinking when it comes to how coronavirus has impacted expectations of what day-to-day work will look like. Company has set healthy expectations in terms of WFH which give me peace of mind during the chaos that is the world right now. Have actually found their analyses and overall strategy for the company to be a source of truth and I now us it as my north star in guiding my own personal, financial, and professional mindset at this time.

    Cons

-Can feel like drinking out of a firehose at times. Not everybody makes it. Need to prove your worth early and often. -Career development is encouraged but the culture asks for you do what you will think will have a big impact first (alongside doing your actual job well), then get recognized for the extra stuff later if successful. -Still a young company trying to execute an ambitious vision. -The office location used to be a con. Now that we're WFH it has become a plus given that the company is adapting quickly to remote work.

I have been working at Branch full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fast paced, challenging, and rewarding! The team here is truly exceptional - each person brings a unique background to the table, giving me a chance to learn new things every day. The management team is transparent, honest, and care for every individual who works here. There are team members all over the world, which gives us the opportunity to learn to market and sell our technology products in different geographies and cultures.

    Cons

None that come to mind. It is a very quickly evolving/growing company, which means it will feel like the ground is constantly shifting, but I think that this is normal for a startup and the management team is conscious to maintain our culture despite these changes.

I have been working at Branch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've worked at a few companies in my 15 years in silicon valley and Branch is at the top. First the people are what make this place special. They're smart and actually care. Founders are the hardest working people I know. The opportunity ahead of us is huge. And the culture is focused on winning and doing great work.

    Cons

The company moves fast, and some people don't like that but they shouldn't be at a startup. You need to be on your A game to thrive here but if you're good, you'll do well. We sometimes move too fast and break something but engg leadership is focusing now on quality.

    Pros

Very motivated, hard working and smart founders. Excellent Engineers.

I'm very sorry to hear that's been your experience. We're confident we're just getting started building something amazing, and the best is yet to come, but I know individual experiences can vary. We also strive hard for zero politics since they add no value, but I'm sorry you experienced some. I hope you found a new role that was a good fit and where you're more excited about the future.

    Pros

If you like to eat, they've got you covered.

    Cons

    - Politics run the show - If you're not a favorite, you're looked over - BS All Hands Meetings - Secret society calls the shots - Nepotism reigns - Promoting within regardless of experience - Values are not adhered to by Exec staff - NOTHING is as it seems

    Branch Response

    July 23, 2020VP Sales, Americas

I'm sorry you walked away with these feelings. Most of your points around politics, favoritism, "secret society", and nepotism all come down to values which is something we live and breathe by. It can only permeate throughout the entire organization by living these values at the top as everything trickles down. There are founder forums at least weekly, skip level meetings monthly, frequent HR check-ins, and other efforts to make sure we bring to light all the issues within the org to quickly address any issues that come up. Every hire and promotion at Branch is based on merit and there are multiple committee members involved in reviewing the qualitative and quantitative data to ensure fairness. As to your advice on listening to all employees, we couldn't agree more. The most valuable feedback comes from our employees and really helps to shape what we do and why we do it.

    I worked at Branch full-time

    Pros

Couple of non tech Cofounders are good, hardworking and trying their best. But inexperience in running a company shows.

    Cons

    1. The management layers below the non tech cofounders is very political. Leads to a very bad working and toxic working environment. 2. Their best days are behind them. 3. Worst job of my career. 4. This review is for before covid times.

    Branch Response

I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy your time at Branch and felt there were politics involved. We strive extremely hard to not only avoid politics but to also actively shut any politics down. Based on recent engagement survey results and feedback collected through skip levels, it doesn't sound like this is a widespread concern, but I’m sorry that you yourself experienced it. While impossible to see everything that's going on, know that we strive to eliminate any politics in the company since they just waste time and energy without adding any value. Since you’ve left, we’ve increased our frequency of Founders Forums to twice a week (previously every 2 weeks), and we’ve also increased skip level meetings. I personally do at least 5 a week throughout the company, which has been helpful for everyone. I hope you find what you’re looking for in your next role company.

I worked at Branch for more than a year

    Pros

Leadership - Leads by example. They are structured, clear, empathetic, and reasonable. In particular, Mike Molinet is a patient man who works endlessly to drive the company's growth and has been someone I've tried to model myself after. He is very humble and understanding, realistic, and a true leader that garners respect from his colleagues. Mada Seghete is vibrant and always lights up every room she's in, engaging the mobile industry physically and digitally through marketing and connecting. She helps in making Branch a fun company to work for. They're authentic and refreshing and I'm truly glad I've had the pleasure of being part of a company run by them. They all have such different personalities that mesh together perfectly. Work Culture - Amazing, this was the best year of my life. Branch is filled with amazing employee events such as happy hours, niche holiday festivities, engaging employee panel talks, game nights, charitable external work, the list goes on and on. The people here are wonderful and genuine, and I'm proud to call a majority of them my friends. Food - Spectacular and healthy. I've had my fill of salmon cooked in a myriad of ways and fish I've never heard of. Salad bar is large, main and side courses are plentiful and delicious. Management - My managers were lenient and understanding, dealing with problems logically and never being rash. They were clear, organized, and patient with me, providing me all the resources to succeed and never losing it, no matter how many simple questions I may have had that I could have easily found through an online search. They treated me as an equal and I never had the sense their title made them feel more important to me. Without them, I would have never excelled the way I have in my career trajectory. Ambience - It's absolutely gorgeous outside. Many walks were taken to appreciate the lush nature and rare species embedding themselves around the company. Also, they allow you to bring your dog to work. This is very adorable and a morale-booster. Self-Growth - I arrived broken and feeling like I wasn't good enough for the industry. I left with an immense set of new skills whether it be technical or interpersonal. I've met so many fantastic and genuine people who I have everlasting connections with. I've become 50x more capable than the individual I was at this point a year ago and I attribute that to the platform this company provided to help mold me.

    Cons

I'd attribute any cons to my own self and lack of growth initially. As each month passed, I'd realize these were emotional issues that had nothing to do with the company, and that by being at the company over the past year helped me grow to resolve them and become a stronger person. I have the utmost respect for those I've been influenced by in my journey here.

I worked at Branch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Good speedy hiring and onboarding processes - Lots of challenging projects and opportunities to grow - Daily office lunch was great - People are really friendly and eager to help - Some team building and company-wide events were happening all the time

    Cons

    - All efforts put for the Discovery, which is a moonshot project in the sky - No clear vision or strategy for the Core Product excellence - The company values are fake, which high management is not aligned to - The product roadmap had been always changing w/o clear prioritization - Work/life balance was never a priority. Unlimited PTO policy is just a joke - TUNE clients migration milestone was a clear problem from day one: Clients were provided a wrong perspective that all features would be migrated over from TUNE. Lack of vision or strategic planning forced work 24 hours to cover errors that could be planned. Lots of product vision gaps - decisions made quickly but teams rarely had enough transparency or bandwidth to support changes. All the teams had to cover the support queue for a few weeks to mitigate an issue and a negative impact on users&partners.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience during your time here, and we completely understand your sentiments on RIF caused by COVID. In only a few weeks, the coronavirus has brought the longest economic expansion in American history to a screeching halt, sent the stock market into a tailspin, and triggered staggering job losses around the world. Change is inevitable particularly during an unprecedented pandemic situation, while it wasn’t an easy call to make, the decision to say goodbye to our employees was the toughest thing to do and it was also our last resort to survive the current downturn. One of the most difficult part was assessing when to make this decision. We realized that the downturn wasn’t a temporary blip we can weather out but is a more serious problem that required an immediate survival plan. For those affected, we have done everything possible to help them land somewhere by connecting with our VCs and other companies in the industry to promote everyone. Thanks again for taking the time to leave this review and we wish you the best in your career.

    Pros

Nice people, awesome technology and the culture is nice.

    Cons

The training was very long and somewhat boring at times. Shipped me off to San Fran which was cool but we didn't actually get into the technical aspect until the very end besides basic concepts. I didn't like how they mixed the Solutions Engineers in with the CSM training because, like I said, it was pretty boring and I felt the trainings were watered down to help the CSM understand the concepts. I understand we work together, but the job responsibilities are different.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s always nice to hear positive feedback on our employees and culture! We try to bring all of our new hires (when traveling is allowed) to our Redwood City office so that they have an opportunity to meet different groups of people and see a different side of our company culture. We want new employees to feel like it is a valuable use of their time so your thoughts and feedback on how to make it better are greatly appreciated. If you’re open to connecting about any additional suggestions about our onboarding process, please reach out to hr@branch.io.
