      Cons

This is coming from a long-time employee. You'll have to trust that I have a solid work ethic and am not a whiner. BFS is a huge company that struggles to staff correctly which results in high turnover rate among management and employees. This leads to disorganization and a myriad of differing management styles that make it hard to work in. Building Materials is a high-stress industry. I have personally heard GMs and regional managers from different locations refer to their work force, namely material handlers, as "stupid" and "monkeys". I have personally seen many instances of sexual harassment. Your work schedule is dependent on the mood of your supervisor and hours can be very long. I have seen many, many screaming matches between employees and management. Management does not promote from within nearly as much as they like to believe or state. Many customers are drama-queen contractors and are difficult to work with. If you work here, understand that being promoted is very difficult. To be promoted, you will essentially have to do the job you desire first, without the training or pay, all while doing your original job, in order to be promoted. Also understand that if you're a good worker you will have to pick up the slack of coworkers who do not have good work ethics like you do, but won't be fired because BFS does everything within their power to not be sued, thus, circling back to staffing issues. You've been warned. Run far, far away.
