I worked at COGECO full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There was NO work. For 99 percent of the time I did nothing -- really is this how Cogeco likes to waste its money?

    Cons

They had a horrible and disfunctional database for their 'business' customers. It was like they could care less.

    Advice to Management

Why waste so much money on paying someone to do nothing for 7.5 hours a day? Do you people even have a brain? Is this why Cogeco is so expensive?

    I worked at COGECO full-time

    Pros

-Knowledge gained through all the technologies we supported was excellent.
-Made some amazing friendships with great people.
    -Pay was competitive
    - Good benefits

    Cons

-Battling through inefficient processes. Difficult to bring change when the company is so big.
-Culture at times was too "old school" cowboy mentality. "This is how we always did things. Why change"?
-Certain positions were staffed by people clearly under qualified for their roles. This affected

    Advice to Management

    -Encourage & foster culture change
-Implement a true ITSM operation model
-Cut the fat. Let under performing and under qualified people go.
-Hire passionate and qualified people but, and this is important, listen to their ideas and let them implement a successful ITSM program.

I have been working at COGECO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good culture and environment. Lots of assistance from upper management to help improve and progress within the organization. Benefits, profit sharing and stock buy in all pros.

    Cons

Start times and days off are not set in stone and change week to week but pretty standard in a call center/customer service environment

I worked at COGECO full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Office atmosphere at the Burlington Office is friendly. Great employee discount on Cogeco services. Management is very open to have employees visit with other departments and see different aspects of the business.

    Cons

Management is often tasked to oversee several different departments. Those departments are loosely related, but management lack the full knowledge base to support all their assigned departments.

    Pros

I've been at Cogeco for over 4 years and I have been given many exciting projects and opportunities to grow. The senior leadership team is strong and accessible.

    Cons

The physical workspace in Montreal is outdated and could be renovated. It does not represent the culture of the company.

I worked at COGECO full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Consistent hours
-Very friendly co workers and management
    -Good benefits
    -Great employee discounts

    Cons

    -Customers are ridiculous
-Every department does the bare minimum
    -No upward mobility
-Not nearly enough income for the amount of BS you have to put up with

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to motivate employees without offering $5-$20 giftcards each month.

I have been working at COGECO full-time

    Pros

Enjoyable workplace, decent pay, great benefits including free education credits and free cable packages. You really feel like you are part of something great.

    Cons

Work environment seems quite negatively political. Work life balance is non-existent. Working weekends is regular and do not expect weekends as part of your vacation - the days you take are the days you get.

    Advice to Management

Move into more a transformational leadership style. Do not encourage the "great leader" style. Encouraging innovation, ideas and growth should be top down. Some managers do not do this, despite it being a part of our core values.

I worked at COGECO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great hours, lots of work, you're your own boss and great job. Being in control of your day and what jobs you do first and last is good.

    Cons

Hard to get other places within the company. Such as; customer facing tech to upper management. Management forgets that customer facing techs are trying their best and trying to push more hours without hiring more techs.

    Advice to Management

Always remember how the techs are dealing with people everyday and trying their best to get every job done in their day.
