I have been working at CSI Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security. Since they are so understaffed you will never get fired!

    Cons

Do not recommend this company to anyone. They pay below market rate and no chance to move up.

    Advice to Management

Invest in employees and the product.

"Great place to work, limited upward mobility"

    Pros

You have a lot of responsibilities since the company is so small so you get to learn a lot about many facets of the company.

    Cons

Since it is so small there is only so many ways you can move throughout the company. This makes it difficult for a long term career.

    Advice to Management

Really nothing they can do since this is the case for all small companies. They do a good job trying to create different roles and responsibilities but unless they grow, their employees are limited.

    Pros

CSI was a great place to start your career as they are very good about promoting from within after you have done a fair amount of time (~2 years) in a gateway position. It's a small company, so you end up wearing a lot of hats, which gives you experience in a variety of areas.

    Cons

The down-side is that once in a higher position, you're kind of stuck there as there is not a lot more room for advancement into the higher levels. The best you could hope for is a lateral move.

    Advice to Management

Try to develop mid to long-term growth plans for your employees that will keep them engaged and challenged, as well as giving them an idea of where they will be in the company if they stay for a long time.

    Pros

Great people, for the most part. Solid solution for the industry.

    Cons

Low pay and a bit of micro management from above made it tough. Sales at this company should be a first or second job out of college, not for seasoned veterans.

    Advice to Management

Allow the sales people and support people to do their jobs.
