* Good Scala/Linux shop with adoption of more FP practices with time.
* Developers are trusted to make the correct technical choices for the project.
* Unafraid to utilise the most recent technologies to solve issues.
* Tackling challenging scaling issues, building a next generation streaming platform to handle many millions of concurrent users.
* Reasonable working from home policy.
* MacBook Pro Laptop for each developer.
Cons
* Poor benefits (base pension + base holidays).
* Poor office; no natural light in the main Reddish office, not in a great area, not a huge amount of options for Lunch.
* Not clear how the relationship between the main BAMTech office (in NY), and the Manchester/London offices will work going forward. Can sometimes cause friction in working day to day.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience of working at Cake, these comments are incredibly valuable when trying to evaluate what and where we need to improve for the business to evolve (especially considering BAMTECH's involvement).
As I write this response, I am assured that the Senior team are working through the soon to be announced BAMTECH UK benefits packages that should reflect a business of our stature, however I appreciate that this has been a contentious issue since being acquired! We have been assured that we will all be enrolled on our new benefits package by the end of Q1.
I also agree that there should be continued communication/conversations regarding the working relationships between all of the relative BAMTECH business units, and I believe that the monthly "all Cake hands meeting" will be a good opportunity for the leadership to convey that relationship. Thats also a great chance for us as team members to talk about the challenges we're facing.
Again thanks for the notes provided!
Work is challenging
Teams are close-knit, albeit sometimes distributed
Get that opportunity to work and learn form some of the most outspoken people in the industry
Emphasis on personal growth and branding
Great vacation policy
Opportunities for longterm growth
Management is very transparent
Cons
Teams are distributed between EST and GMT, so meetings are more difficult to coordinate.

Thanks for taking the time to review your spell with Cake so far, and really appreciate the insight regarding our US onboarding process as without this insight we wouldn't have known we could make that process smoother! We'll do what we can to improve that process for our newest starters across the pond!
