    I worked at CalAtlantic full-time

    Pros

    -Great people
    -Offer Health Benefits
    -Give good raises
Overall I enjoyed working for CalAtlantic, each department had good managers that would treat their people well.

    Cons

Could sometimes feel like there is the "In" circle and you are either in or out. There was the often a lack of communication between departments which would cause issues and lead to finger pointing rather solving the root problem.

    Advice to Management

Develop better process and procedures so all departments are on the same page.

I worked at CalAtlantic full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are decent. Co-workers were nice.

    Cons

Management is unprofessional and does not communicate with employees. No work life balance and extremely hostile work environment. Company expects employees to work their scheduled day shift and then stay to work OT until 9, 10, 11 pm or later with no notice. Do not bother giving any feedback to management or HR, they don't want to hear anything and you will be a target for retaliation. Lastly, don't bother giving two weeks notice unless you are prepared to be sent home and not paid. Our department was new and our manager did not have the knowledge to help us learn our jobs and was unwilling to go search out the correct answers for us. Our manager also lied and literally yelled at my group many times and anything we said to her back was written down and used in all of our reviews against us.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees like you talk about in your Town Hall meetings. Ask and listen to employee feedback. Try finding HR representatives that have people skills and can train managers to fairly treat employees.

I have been working at CalAtlantic (More than a year)

    Pros

Well trained and helpful staff. Excellent teamwork. Everyone in the company relies on each other to get their work completed (that's a plus!).

    Cons

Everyone in the company relies on each other to get their work completed (this isn't always a plus!).
Kind of difficult to improve your compensation at regular intervals.

    Advice to Management

Hold onto starting employees to help them grow with the company. Surely there must be some work they can do as to not keep guys at home for a week at a time.

I worked at CalAtlantic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Their homes are pretty but expensive for what you get. The company makes very good profit but their stock price doesn't show it for some reason.

    Cons

Their are so many, lowest commission percentage in the industry. They won't tell you want you will be paid until after you start. We were all unhappy but feel stuck because of backlog.

Everyday you have to be mean to buyers. Once they make their selections like granite, wood floors or tile there are NO changes! NONE! It doesn't matter that the house hadn't started!!! You are even allowed to ask management for an exception! It is NO or you are in trouble for asking. It is just not the way to treat a customer.

    Advice to Management

If I gave some, they won't listen. They know more than the rest of us.

    Pros

Going home and getting away from idiots in management!

    Cons

Working for Trend. Running this like Trend Homes. There was a reason it went out of business two times.

    Advice to Management

Leave. I give you less then two years before your management runs this division into the ground. This is not Trend. This is a builder that gives a damn. Well it was until they let you run it.
