I worked at Cameron Compression full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work-life balance, very good benefits, 401(k) match + 3%, time off matches with overall industry, great working group environment. Very little overtime expectations.

    Cons

Management allowed lead times to grow to a point where sales trickled of and didn't adapt to changing conditions fast enough. Overall somewhat beurocratic of a place to work in Buffalo. Union shop, though willing to work and a relatively engaged workforce. Compensation is lighter than most locations.

    Advice to Management

Adapt quicker, create think-tank groups which can improve the business at all levels. Better communicate.

    Pros

Good pay, when there's overtime you can make a ton of money. Benefits are OK. The work is easy, your not killing yourself. Coworkers get along well and are easy to work with.

    Cons

Union shop. Communication between shifts is terrible. No accountability or sense of urgency. Guys in there 70' s that are willing to die on the job before they'll retire.

    Advice to Management

Hard with the union but there needs to be some semblance of accountability. You need to be able to fire the dead weight without the union getting them there job back.

I have been working at Cameron Compression full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, clean & comfortable work environment (machine shop)

    Cons

Foreman with limited knowledge of machine shop duties, salary is either too low or too high depending on who you know,

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to pay attention to the foreman/supervisors and see is they are treating EACH employee fairly

I worked at Cameron Compression full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

it was good experience and I enjoyed the people I worked with. there.

    Cons

They billed for the overtime hours I worked to customers and they refused to discuss paying me salary +overtime. IF you're an engineer, don't take a job in field service. Or use it to get experience.

    Advice to Management

If you're an engineer and you travel constantly, and get treated like a field service technician in almost every way, and are forced to work overtime constantly in the field, Pay the engineer overtime.

    Cons

Gone to Long. You could be sent on a job for 1 weeks or up to 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Don’t burn your service guys out to fast. They need to get home at least once every two months.

    Pros

Kept busy, the technologies manufactured are interesting. the health care benifits are great. Overall a friendly work environment. Plenty of opportunities to interface with other departments.

    Cons

Some lack of commitment to keep some equipment up to date. Not all supervisors are as well prepared for thier jobs as others. Subject to normal manufacturing pushes (end of month, end of quarter ets..)

    Advice to Management

Commit more funds where necessary to keep equipment up to date. Ensure employee reviews are performed and actually reflect the employees performance.
