I worked at Check Center part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good entry into finance if you can survive the hard sales goals that they paint as "excellent customer service".

    Cons

It used to be a good company to work for but the CEO has gone through so many upper management that everyone is very aware they are replaceable. I used to think it was my manager who was a slave driver but got to see it was the greedy men on top. Employees left and no one replaced them. This is not longer a company that cares about its employees. Offering only part time us just another greed tactic. If you can move on to another business. Pretty sure this place is sinking.

    Advice to Management

Thise who work at the bottom are the ones who truly earn you that fat paycheck. Work a day in their shoes, meet their sales goals, and let's see if you can earn/live off of the $0.25 - $1 per sale "benefit".

    Pros

Quarterly Bonus, yearly bonus, and a chance to get incentives, co-workers all around the company are very helpful .

    Cons

Goals at times set to high for loans, services etc.

    Advice to Management

Know the difference between showing employees how to do something instead of telling them and expecting them to learn on their own.

I worked at Check Center part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great learning experience if you have the patience to stay there long enough
$12/ hour is a decent pay for not having much experience (HS diploma/ged required)
hiring desicions are usually very fast
incentives after 3 months working and having passed all your tests (though the incentives are usually really small if you don't sell a lot)
they continuously hold events for the community

    Cons

the job is very repetitive and there are no benefits for part-time employees
there are a lot of tests and quizzes before you can work at a window by yourself. and even after you pass the tests and certifications, you continuously have to keep taking some.
co-workers are not professional at ALL!
too much downtime makes the job boring
you must drive to berkely 2 times for training
lots of drama between employees (most are teenage girls)
    you are constantly being evaluated
    no advancement opportunities
there isnt ever really communication between the employees and senior management

    Advice to Management

spend more time with the employees to check that they're doing their jobs and be more involved with customers
