Less than Average Cram School.
Pros
* Flexible: due to the lack of interest from NSTs, the school will generally try to meet requests. * Multiple Branches: Locations may be found in numerous parts of Kaohsiung, a close branch could limit travel time. * Generally good teaching staff: Most of my co-workers were very honest and hardworking individuals.
Cons
* Management: ChengDa is a cram school with exceptional teachers and incredibly ineffective management. The owner Judy constantly changes material, schedules, and curriculum while changing goals. This results in a consult flux of misinformation and confusion within both the students and working staff. * Environment: Stemming from mismanagement, the majority of individual I met while working at Chengda were incredibly negative with regards to the organization and their work efforts. * Turnover: During my 18 month employment turnover was so high that one of my classes saw 9 different Taiwanese co-teachers in twelve months. Other schools I have worked at would rarely see a teacher leave during the term itself. * Professionalism: I would routinely not be told about classes added to my schedule, have incorrect schedules, have miscounted hours, not be given a lesson plan or teaching materials. This made the overall working environment very difficult to excel within. Salary / Opportunities: As a result of little interest within the expat community to teach at Chengda, they will often start teachers at their maximum allocated wage. ~800 NT/hour. There is no further progression from this point, for wages or position. As a result this an organization to get an ARC, then department from, when no longer needed.
