Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

At first, Codacy seemed like the perfect fit with its people-first image, fostering a wonderful culture filled with smiles and apparent care. However, the facade quickly faded away, revealing a deeply troubling reality. Beneath the surface, the company's true colors emerged, exposing a toxic and deceitful environment. Empty promises of employee well-being were shattered by abrupt layoffs, vanishing perks, and a fixation on profits over people. The supposed camaraderie turned into mistrust, and genuine concern gave way to a focus on self-interest. Codacy may lure in unsuspecting individuals with its illusion of care, but beware, the truth is far from the image they project. Once settled into the daily grind, the disparity between the promised culture and the harsh reality becomes evident. Any attempts to voice concerns or challenge the status quo are met with defensiveness and dismissal. Behind closed doors, decisions are made without any regard for the well-being of the employees. Layoffs, sudden changes, and revisions to benefits and perks are executed without warning, leaving employees feeling expendable and undervalued. As time goes on, the people-first narrative fades away, replaced by a focus on profit and superficial success. The company's obsession with sales and marketing takes precedence over the well-being of its workforce. Rather than fostering a culture of growth and empowerment, Codacy chooses to manipulate and control its employees to maintain its image.

Pros

Superficially the salaries here were superior than other portuguese tech companies. Depending on the team, at least under that bubble things worked fine with good colleagues, supportive people, space for learning.

Cons

Anything management related is a poisoned well since toxic people are allowed in the upper echelons of the company. Anything positive is negated by such management people. The fact that these people are allowed to scream and gaslight others in meetings and that the other peers are ok with it and validate such people just shows how rotten it all is. These people will act all friendly and supportive in your face but will happily carve a knife in your backs with no regrets. The cold layoffs of dozens of people not only burned lots of bridges with very high quality professionals but also with anyone that is still here. The mood got heavy by these decisions and all trust has been lost. Nobody expects the company to live much longer. The amount of new PR and marketing being heavily pushed around these times to wash the image of the company just feels wrong. It's also clear some people were mandated to write good reviews here so the company doesn't look so bad. It is bad. These reviews are not revenge reviews, they paint a picture of explicit reality. These are not the times to join this company, so think carefully about your choices if you are considering.

Pros

Great genuine people (that might no longer exists) Decent salary Remote

Cons

Since the last investors came in, the company's decision-making has deteriorated due to high pressure from investors, leading to decisions solely focused on numbers and neglecting the overall macro state of the business and the product. Despite being a company that sells code quality standards, it suffers greatly from extensive technical debt. This issue may stem from a lack of transparency and openness to self-assessment. Rather than acknowledging the actual problems and devising a mid-term plan to address long-standing issues previously identified by product and engineering, the company opted for a short-term approach focused on immediate gains, resulting in a loss of customer trust and branding. Unfortunately, this also led to a loss of the company's cultural identity, transitioning from a blameless environment where open dialogue was encouraged, to an atmosphere where people were afraid to speak up and pure ingenuity for code and engineering was compromised to please higher-ups.
