Pros
The mission is laudable.
Cons
Huge employee turnover. When I started, the longest anyone stayed was 3 months. The CEO at the time was volatile, which contributed to a terrible work environment. Hopefully this has changed. Also, my position and responsibilities were not clearly defined. Quite frankly, I did not know what I was supposed to be doing. Little direction plus ill-defined role is a recipe for frustration.

Pros
I've volunteered a few times for the weekend seminars that codenow runs. It's very hard to pack so much information into a small window, but I think the students get a good taste for programming. The goal of the program is essentially to get high school students excited about computer science as a field but it also definitely helps the students decide if this is a field for them in the first place before ever getting to college.
Cons
Some students really just shouldn't be there, but I'd say the majority were smart, driven and easy to teach.
