Cons
Unfortunately, the arrow has been pointed down ever since the company entered private equity in 2019. Layoffs continue as investors continue to get closer to the truth- this company has no sound accounting practices and no one knows what the books ACTUALLY look like. Installing the wheels on the bus while rolling down the highway at 90 miles per hour has proven difficult. The biggest drain on Colony- a field services division that actively practices no accountability. Field employees perform well below industry standards, are not disciplined, and continue on to the next order/store to make the same mistakes. Training programs are rolled out aimed at closing these gaps and field management choses to ignore/excuse their employees from completing courses. Substandard installations continue unchecked. All this while staying in hotel rooms that cost 30-40% more than what the competition is staying in, and making a daily per diem higher than the industry average. This makes bringing in a profitable project pretty much impossible. Shady company too. Multiple “corrected” W2’s- always in the company’s favor. When you leave, they edit the payroll software to hide your vacation time from you- time that they legally owe you, and I’m sure they will pay, but they hide it from you- why? HR is just a corporate extension. Employee support comes in the form of lip service, no action and redirection to company policies about the chain of command. So don't bring problems to HR, bring them to the individual you have a complaint about. Even if you have already exhausted that avenue- you will be told to go down that road again, and again. The company pays almost nothing toward your Healthcare benefits when compared to other companies. MAYBE 15% of the premium- you're on the hook for the rest. bwtyer than nothing I suppose, but this is the worst Healthcare plan my family has ever used. In case you couldn’t gather- avoid. If you NEED a job, stop here briefly while you continue your search. If you need a career, or to level up your current position, do not waste your time or energy here, keep looking.
